For the past few months, we’ve been dipping our feet into waters new, turning our hand to transmedia storytelling. We have been working with Bonefide Films to design the cross-platform strategy for one of their exciting new television projects, Korridor.

A sci-fi TV series, Korridor explores issues of identity, belonging and surveillance. We took these themes and designed a multilayered transmedia experience, combining: web, mobile, gaming and the real world to create a engaging story where users can choose their level of involvement.

Korridor was selected as one of nine projects to be pitched live in front of 30 judges and a live audience at the Pixel Pitch event in September – part of the Power to the Pixel conference. This was a great experience to get in front of transmedia experts and gain real feedback on our ideas. The project was very well received and led to some great connections being made in the follow up meetings.

A number of broadcasters are now looking at the project and hopefully it won’t be long before Korridor appears across your screens.

We worked really hard developing the MirrorMe application and took risks to push both technical and creative boundaries. This makes it even more rewarding we receive recognition from the digital community.

We launched in Q4 2009 and are excited to announce that MirrorMe has already won its first award! MirrorMe beat competition from across the World to win an outstanding achievement award in the lifestyle category of the 2009 Interactive Media Awards. It’s a great honour to get this award and hopefully the first of many!

We’re pleased to announce our new exciting project, a super fun health application for Facebook, made with 4ip and Northern Film & Media.

MirrorMe is a Facebook application that allows you to take any photo of yourself and after entering an overview of your bad habits, morph your face into its degenerated future form. You can then share and compare images with your friends and experiment with the effects of different lifestyle choices.

Although primarily designed to be simple and fun, MirrorMe has some clever technology behind it. It uses advanced Facial Recognition technology to detect over 86 unique points on the human face and uses this information to create an individualised and scarily accurate facial distortion. It also incorporates medical research to create changes specific to the individual user’s sex, age, location, ethnic origin and bad habits.

Have a go yourself, and see what you will look like when your old! http://apps.facebook.com/mirrorme

On Thursday I went to the New direction conference in Newcastle organised by Northern Film and Media. The topic was about using innovative and engaging media which young people will enjoy and learn from. There were speakers from Channel 4, First Light, Polytechnic, Novakcollective and many other exciting and creative digital media companies. We saw the 3D disco created by Novak (with the help of some funky 3D glasses), and I had a go on digital graffiti during the break.

There was also a talk by mylifestories with two young students. My life stories provides young people a place where they can write about themselves and any stories they would like to share with people. They can add their own short stop frame animations , photos etc online. It was great to see young people being creative and intuitive using this technology.

The most exciting part of the conference for me was when the audience had a sneak preview of our latest facebook application. The audience’s reaction was great; there was a lot of giggling and laughter when they saw what the application can do. This is a great indicator that we are on the right path and at Ideonic , we are making something unique and different which everybody can enjoy.
