Video games are good for children

An interesting report from the European Parliament has published findings that computer games are beneficial for children. We have never doubted the benefits of computer games and it is reassuring to have these beliefs are further validated at such a high level. The report outlined some of the key skills that they believe games teach:

video games can stimulate learning of facts and skills such as strategic thinking, creativity, cooperation and innovative thinking, which are important skills in the information society.

The report recommended schools and parents to take an interest in games and consider them as for educational purposes. With so much being learned from just engaging with games, it really highlights the potential for focusing them further on specific learning needs.

Hopefully this will make game based learning even more mainstream!

I will agree that games should be good for our kids. We just cant let them play all day. No body wants a fat lazy kid that will want to live with them there who life. Set a time limit.
